Synchronicity Theatre Presents a Cross-Cultural Story of Goddesses and Heroines Alike
Get your dose of girl power at Goddess! Sixteen dancers of diverse origin and trained in different dance genres come together in the evocative dance-story that follows three young goddesses. This one-day-only event comes to Synchronicity Theatre on Sunday, November 11th at 3:00 p.m.
In Goddess, the audience follows the journeys of three young goddesses as their paths intersect with heroines across cultures and they learn the value of friendship and community.
This concert-length dance production is the result of a yearlong effort to bring together dancers across genres and nationalities. The central theme is the evolution of woman through self-awareness, self-acceptance, exploration, empowerment and awakening.
Goddess is the brain-child of Moksha Studios. Moksha is a multicultural dance company started by Proma Ray to bring Indian Fusion, Kalbelia and Bollywood into mainstream American culture. The name "moksha" means “liberation” in Sanskrit. Moksha Studios believes that dance removes barriers, both physical and emotional, and liberates our souls towards universal acceptance.
Starting out as a group of 6 dancers from 6 different countries, Moksha has featured over 30 dancers born in countries including Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, India, Romania, Serbia and United States. The studio’s creative pursuits are inspired and influenced by an ever-expanding knowledge of new and old cultural and emotional spaces.
Don’t miss your chance to see Goddess live! Doors open at Synchronicity Theatre at 2:30 p.m. Show begins at 3:00 p.m. General admission tickets are 20 dollars in advance or 25 dollars at the door.
