Atlanta: Living Large in the Virginia-Highland Neighborhood
Atlanta is the capital and the most populous city in Georgia. Home to nearly half a million people, it is one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Atlanta is considered a "world city" because of its diverse economy, which includes logistics, professional and business services, media operations, and information technology. While located in the South, Atlanta has a culture that is no longer strictly Southern because of a large population of migrants from other parts of the United States and the world. This has established Atlanta as the cultural and economic hub of an increasingly multi-cultural metropolitan area with many unique neighborhoods that are reflective of its diversity. One of Atlanta’s most affluent neighborhoods, the Virginia-Highland area has become ATL’s hottest destination due to its eclectic mix of restaurants, bars, and shops. It has even been named by several local publications as “Best” or “Favorite” neighborhood due to its attractions, amenities, and overall walkability.
